The Tax Man

You are returning from a tax-collecting expedition with your ill-gotten gains. You must get the taxes you have collected across the table and off the opposite corner. There is a marauding band of Vikings in the area who you must watch out for, and you have also heard that some of the villagers who you recently taxed are intent on retrieving their gods. You may take whatever route you please. The stream is fordable everywhere, but wagons may get stuck, and men fall over, unless a recognised ford is used.

You have the following items:

8 barrels flour (in ox wagon)

8 sacks vegetables (in the other ox wagon)

1 large barrel beer (the beer wagon)

2 sacks gold (on the mule)

Points:

1 point per sack of vegetables or bag of flour exited off the other corner

4 points for exiting the beer wagon

10 points per bag of gold

Lose 2 points per man killed, 1 point per man wounded.

The Vikings

You have landed your ship in search of plunder. You have heard that there is a tax inspector returning home with his taxes - rich pickings! Also, a little plunder of the local villagers would not go amiss. Be careful, though. You have plundered this village before, and they may be forewarned. Best leave a guard at the boat to stop someone destroying it!

Points:

1 point per sack of vegetables, bag of flour, sheep or pig taken off in the ship

2 points per cow taken off by ship

5 points for the beer (takes 2 men to carry) taken off by ship

3 points per bag of gold taken off by ship

If your ship is destroyed, you cannot get any points at all!

Lose 3 points per man killed, 1 point per man wounded.

The Villagers

The tax man has been here and is now returning past your village. His men came and stole what was rightfully yours! You were caught by surprise, but now you intend to give him a surprise of your own! You have also heard that the band of Vikings who have raided your village in the past are back in the area. Maybe you can teach them a lesson, too. Better lock up the livestock and the women, though.

Points:

1 point per sack of vegetables, bag of flour, taken off the corner in the village

5 points for the beer (takes 2 men to carry) taken off the corner in the village

3 points per bag of gold taken off the corner in the village

10 points for burning the Viking ship

1 point per Viking killed

Lose 2 points per man killed, 1 point per man wounded.
