Sir, On sending scouts out to reconnoitre the river bank to the east of the fork in the river to the right of the British position we discovered a ford across the river. The ford appears to be passable with care by foot or mounted troops. Wheeled vehicles and artillery might have difficulty. It is undefended, and the British appear to be unaware of its existence.
